Hilda and the troll series5/29/2023 A female lead that cares of creatures and respects them. I love love that the child is not perfectly behaved but is kind and adventurous. This theme carries out until the end of this first season. There is some tension as the mom wants to protect Hilda and give her normal childhood experiences also learns to allow Hilda to explore and grows to trust her unique gifts. Personally, love that there is real disagreement between the mother and Hilda. The suspense seemed brief enough for my child (who can be quite sensitive) to handle. She is so good with letting me know when something is too much. I let her lead the way when we venture into new programs unless it’s something I am not comfortable with. We watched together and paused to discuss things along the way. When watching the first time through it wasn’t something I would put on for her to watch alone.

Ruth author of a tale for the time being5/29/2023 Nao confides, in purple ink under red covers, that she lives in Tokyo that she’s had a really crummy time in school, being quite hideously bullied by classmates who torment her for having spent her childhood in America that she loves her 104-year-old great-grandmother, a feisty Buddhist nun that she worries about her father, who, ashamed by his lack of employment, is prone to hapless suicide attempts and that she, too, is planning to kill herself. Nao’s lively voice, by turns breezy, petulant, funny, sad and teenage-girl wise, reaches the reader in the pages of her diary, which, as Ruth Ozeki begins to fold and pleat her intricate parable of a novel, washes ashore, safe in a Hello Kitty lunchbox, on a small Canadian island off the coast of British Columbia. The most tangible character in “A Tale for the Time Being” is a 16-year-old Japanese girl named Nao who never makes an appearance in the flesh. Sixteen Summers by Caitlin Moss5/28/2023 Something else I really love is the structure. And Caitlin handles grief and loss incredibly well, shining a light on how it can completely upend a person and impact how they live and interact with others, even and especially with their children. She experiences one of my worst nightmares as a wife and mother. It’s no secret (it’s in the synopsis) that the main character, Tabitha (not Tabby), experiences enormous loss and grief from the beginning of the book. I was sucked into the characters and their stories from the very first page. The second thing you should know is that Caitlin Moss is a masterful storyteller and character development pro. The first thing you should know is that I cried within the first 20 pages. The prize quest for oil money and power5/28/2023 Do not use an Oxford Academic personal account.
Oroonoko author5/28/2023 However, the unknown storyteller, a young English woman, lives on Parham’s plantation, waiting to travel back to England. The story is set in the south of America’s northern coast in the year 1640, as had the English given up their powers to the Dutch colony (Gale, 2016). The Chronicle of Oroonoko is the narration of African prince Oroonoko and Imoinda, his beloved wife, who was held captive by the British colony and imported as slaves to Surinam. However, the narration of Oroonoko by Behn has dramatically impacted the British novel development. Besides, authors further find it hard to decide whether Oroonoko’s narrator is meant to represent Aphra Behn and determine whether the story is intended to narrate the truth thus, there is a need to analyze the book critically. Moreover, other authors emphasize that Oroonoko should have the considerations since it was written in the form of the novel and is somehow long to be not considered. However, most scholars have argued that the work should be recognized as the first English novel, and the regards go to Daniel Defoe. It created the noble savage figure, was promoted later on, and became famous Jean-Jacques Rousseau, a French philosopher. Oroonoko, also known as a loyal slave, remains critical as it impacted the English novel development, establishing females’ narrative voice and handling anti-colonial and abolitionist themes. Although the book was not familiar during the lifetime of Behn, currently Oroonoko of the year 1668 is among the broad read books of Aphra Behn and most respected work. |
